The Prairie Labyrinthis a left-handed, seven-circuit Classical labyrinth oriented with the mouth facing South. Some of the aerial shots were taken in spring with "green-up" occurring on the cut paths standing out in contrast to the rest of the dead winter grasses.
Others were taken in fall when the grasses (Big Blue Stem, Indian and Switch grass) reach their peak height (5-8 ft.) The mowed path defines the pattern due to the difference in height.

Part of maintaining a prairie means burning the grasses every 2- 3 years to clear out the old accumulated grasses and weeds. This is done in the spring. It also acts as a catalyst to jump start the new seeds growth.

When the burn is over the labyrinth path is fully revealed.
This is the only time you can see the entire unicursal design with all the paths exposed
A few days later the new growth explodes and another season begins.
